About NAEMT

Formed in 1975 and today more than 30,000 members strong, the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) is the nation’s only organization solely dedicated to representing the professional interests of all EMS practitioners, including paramedics, emergency medical technicians, first responders and other professionals working in pre-hospital emergency medicine. NAEMT members work in all sectors of EMS, including government service agencies, fire departments, hospital-based ambulance services, private companies, industrial and special operations settings, and in the military.

NAEMT is the united voice representing all EMS practitioners on the issues that matter most, including:

• Respect and recognition from the government, other medical professionals and the public.
• Pay that reflects their professional training, responsibilities and dedication.
• Improved benefits such as death, disability and dismemberment coverage.
• Leadership at the federal level on par with police and fire representation.
• Necessary, balanced and equitable funding for EMS in all locations.
• Public policy that supports paramedics, EMTs, and first responders, as well as the patients they serve.
